A portrait, -because it is a visual representation of information - affects us in a different way. It does not reinforce rational thinking, but brings out our holistic self, which sees everything as one, bringing intuitive understanding to the surface.
There are several types of portraits you can choose from. We can look into the past, past lives, where we came from (Past Life Portraits are Tree of Life Portraits), and we can look into the future, or into our relationships .

The purpose of this portrait is to turn your inner perspective around - to help you see what your original, joyful child self looks like, so that you can experience again the innocence, openness and sense of infinite possibility that were alive within you as a child.
It's something that never goes away, but is sometimes buried by adulthood, just waiting to resurface.

The foundation on which we build our lives, our roots, often reach beyond our childhood, and rooted in past lives. A clear view of our starting point can help us to become more stable in our present life.
Past life experiences can have a drastic impact on our current daily lives. A past life habit, a pattern, can turn areas of life upside down. Certain things don't work 'normally' for us- at least not in the way they do for everyone else. It's like there is something that is controlling our destiny, a force greater than us, even if we cannot grasp what it is, we can feel it in every part of our being.
For someone who lives this way, it is not enough to have a few half-truths and positive thinking - the real help for him is to know what it is that determines his life, so he can have a tangible sense of his past. The portrait helps us to process and recognise our karma, the challenges we face and the solutions we have to solve them. These portraits always looks like trees (The Tree of Life.)

Why a picture
Codepainting is all about visual communication. The specialty of these paintings, the way they "get recieved". I paint the information- the minute you see it, you see every detail, all at once- all the good thing, the best of you, and all the difficulties, challenges you are dealing with - at the same time.
You'll see the begining and the ending, the prety side of things and the truth, and ugly side of them and you won't be confused. The rational mind will have difficulties dealing with what it sees, but the irrational, the holistic, the visual understanding - the right brain won't.
"You have to see yourself from the outside" - that's how you understand, and realize what you have inside. Confidence is not something the outside world can give you. If it's real if it comes from within- you need to know yourself. You need to know your true nature.

The painting can work in three level- it works on the emotional level, on the mental and also on the phisical level, deep burried informations in the mental or emotional body can resurface. Even if the rational mind is not aware of it- it starts a deep cleansing, helping you to find your way.
